The Writing Portfolio of Mike de Give

I'm drawn to stories that ask what it means to be alive on Earth — not in the abstract, but in the dirt, the genes, the forests and the hospital rooms.
Before stepping into retreat work, I spent 25 years as a journalist, tracking human stories wherever they sprouted. These days, I write at the edges of science and spirit, paying attention to the quiet dramas of salamanders, bioluminescence and hospice volunteers — stories that remind us how strange and sacred it is to be here at all.
I'm looking to publish more stories in this vein — following the thread of wonder through the living world. The work I've done so far points in that direction, and I'm leaning in. Editors, I'd love to hear from you.

A delicate dance of defense and cooperation shapes life in a honeybee colony.

Local amphibians, slippery migration paths, and the volunteers who help them cross.

A broken truck turns a supply run into an extraordinary ordinary walk.
